congratulations on the anniversary Pierini : the slideshow was so sweet. Your wife was a beautiful bride, and you were a handsome groom (that was before the middle age spread i guess )
i hope you both enjoy another 29 years as man and wife

Enjoyed the slide show Mr. P
I'm guessing, like with your training, those married years have been filled with "quality" just the same.
Congrats--and happy belated birthday

Complete rest day. Out of town in Monterey. Nice coastal breeze in a nice hotel. Finally got a good night's sleep.
Sunday, February 25, 2007
Another complete rest day in Monterey. Real estate is sure expensive in this area. Managed to keep my food journal current. Ready to hit the gym tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. I feel really rested.

Very good looking wife. : :
I see you had that same hair back then too. I once had that much hair. Then we had children.

Arrived at the gym at 6:05 a.m.
Elliptical trainer - resistance and incline both at level 10 for a 5 minute warmup, completing 1,041 strides (+28 more than last Friday).
6-grip pullup/chinup medley - recovery was 2 minutes between sets.
#1 = standard grip pullups x 17
#2 = standard grip chinups x 12
#3 = close grip pullups x 6
#4 = close grip chinups x 7
#5 = wide grip pullups x 6
#6 = wide grip chinups x 6
Total of 54 reps which is 5 less than my PR of 59 reps. Definitely off this morning.
bar dips/knuckle pushups - bar dips on sets #1-3-5 and knuckle pushups on sets #2-4-6. Recovery was 2 minutes between sets.
bar dips: 20-9-11 and knuckle pushups: 25-22-20. Total of 107 reps which is +4 more than the last time I did this about 2 weeks ago.
Running - on the treadmill at 1% incline. Warmup of 400 meters at 7.5 mph. Then another 3 mile timed trial which I completed in 19:24 PR for another Monday morning PR by 8 seconds better than last Monday. Today, my average HR was 161 bpm (87% of max) and my highest HR was 179 bpm (97% of max).
This is the 4th Monday that I've done a 3 mile timed trial and my cumulative improvement is 51 seconds from a 20:15 to a 19:24. I think that is it for a while, I'm going to back off and cruise for the next couple of weeks. I've mastered "precision running" on the treadmill by picking my speeds and speed increases to manage my HR. Now the challenge is to duplicate this on the road in the summertime.
Stretching - on the floor to stretch my hams, quads, glutes, calves, etc.
Feels good to be back in the fitness saddle after a couple of days off. My body was starting to feel like my age with two days of rest. I do better training 5-6 days a week and only taking 1 day off at a time.
Have a great day!
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
p.s. thanks everyone for stopping by and your kind comments. I had a great photographer for our wedding. He's still around town shooting for a living.

Arrived at the gym at 6:05 a.m.
Elliptical trainer - resistance and incline both at level 10 for a 5 minute warmup, completing 1,096 strides (+55 more than yesterday). I don't know how much faster I can go. I'm getting caught up in trying to outdo the previous day and this is no longer an easy warmup.
Ab plank holds - completed 3 rounds of 60 second holds and 10 second recovery. I decided to take this one easy today.
4-count cherry pickers - a single set of slow reps x 25 to warmup and wakeup my lower back and hamstrings to get ready for the rest of my workout.
Superman extension hold - on the GHD device with arms fully extended, a 30 second hold. This is the first time I've done this so I decided to pick a safe duration. I really like the challenge of this and will do more, building up to a 60 second hold for starters. And then we'll see how bad I want to increase the duration.
Power clean & push press - today's plan was 130 lbs. for 3 or 4 sets x 7 reps. I did 130 lbs. x 7-7-6 and called it quits. I failed on rep 7 of the 3rd set and actually tried twice to get it, spending tremendous fuel in the process. I was going to go for a 4th set then made a business decision to save the effort and try again next week. I think I'm going to attempt 3x8 next week at the same weight. If I get it, then I'll add 5 lbs. to the load.
Squats - warmup of 45x10, then #1 = 140x5 - #2 = 150x5 - #3 = 160x5 - #4= 170x5 - #5 = front squat 115x5 - #6 = front squat 135x5. I increased the weight for regular squats by 5 lbs and the front squat by 20 lbs. Of the 3 lifts I am doing, my progress with squats is the slowest. It will come with time. Still having trouble with range of motion which may be the way it is because of past injuries.
Stretching - on the floor to stretch my hams, quads, glutes, calves, etc.
Other Stuff - So what did you do for dinner last night? Well as I was walking up the stairs to my home last night, a local homeless couple came up and said that my wife had invited them to dinner. So I said "come on in". We had a nice dinner and I got to know them better. Interesting is the reason that contributed to their homelessness. They are not druggies or drunks, just people dealt a bad hand of cards. Now I'm wondering what's cooking tonight.
So I'm at a client's location tomorrow and the next day so it will be early morning and late afternoon mini-training in my basement. One of those days will be a burpee workout to settle my debt with Tim. Plus those burpees are doing me so much good that I would be a fool not to be regularly doing them.
Have a great day!
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

Yet another example of how compassionate women can be. I can’t help but think that in general men seem to lag behind in the “compassion” category.
Might just be my state of mind right now, but it seems men cause most of the problems in societies. Take a look at the state of Africa right now.
Opra realizes the future of Africa lies in women so much so that she spent millions building a girl’s school. I watched a TV program showing the unfolding of the school last night.
What an amazing women with amazing vision. Thank your wife for me, and kudos to you for supporting her effort
