Pierini's March 2008 Training

Saturday, March 1, 2008
Saturday morning dojo workout.

Sunday, March 2, 2008
Rest day but I did walk a total of 2 miles in the late afternoon going to and from Sunday Mass downtown.

Monday, March 3, 2008
Rest day. At a client's location today so no gym. Be there tomorrow as well so probably no gym, trying to rack up some long work days. March is my tough month. I'm shooting for getting in 275 hours of work. Wish me well.

Hate to break it to you Mr. P, but it's 2008. Hope you're doing the right year's taxes for all your clients

275 hours of work in one month? that sounds tough pierini! I wish you luck in your work goals, and in fitting your workouts around them!

Good find LiftGirl. I can't believe I made that mistake as I always like to point out others here who do something like that.

I owe you one. Have a great day!

I just like giving you a hard time

Anyway, I hope you're still able to get in at least a couple of days a week during your crazy time!

Complete rest day.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008
Back to my office so back to my gym, arriving at 5:55 a.m.

Elliptical trainer - resistance and incline both at level 10 for a 5 minute warmup, completing 1,056 strides.

Flexibility - with a light pole for 10 minutes.

Clean & jerk training - #1 = warmup of Romanian deadlift, rest then hang squat clean, rest then split jerk: 45x5 - 95x3 - 115x2 - #2 = clean & jerk singles progression: 135-145-155-165-175 - #3 = push press: 135x7. I believe I was good this morning for #185 on the clean & jerk but I'm sticking with this singles progression until after my busy work season and concentrate on improving my form.

That was it. Something is better than nothing. I'm in a shorter workouts mode mindset for the next 6 weeks. Have a great day!

Let me see - 5 minutes on the ET, 10 minutes flexibility, 15 minutes SS&S so than means 25 minutes for the rest as it was in the door and out the door in 55 minutes.

Nothing wrong with a short workout, especially when you're busy!

Arrived at the gym at 5:50 a.m.

Flexibility - shoulder dislocates + overhead squat with a light pole x 25.

Static isometric contractions - with PRs in parenthesis - #1 = handstand hold with feet against the wall: 1:48 (1:53) - #2 = standard grip pullup hang hold: 1:36 (2:08) tried to readjust my grip during the hang which was a big mistake - #3 = right side plank: 1:22 then left side plank: 1:25 (don't have a PR in memory on this one but last time I did these I was in the 1:15 zone) - #4 = Superman extension on GHD unit: 1:04 (1:16). I tried a wall sit hold but couldn't do it. Something is cooking in my left knee region - it feels like I hyperextended it - must be related to something I did yesterday.

That was it. Short and sweet and on to work. Have a great day!

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum

p.s. thanks for stopping by JMike. I think further gains in my clean & jerks will be a 50/50 mix of technique improvement and strength. The technical aspects of the Oly lifts fascinate me.

Arrived at the gym at 5:45 a.m.

Elliptical trainer - resistance and incline both at level 10 for a 5 minute warmup, completing 1,012 strides.

Superset - 5 rounds of overhead squat (OHS) plus weighted standard grip pullups (SGPU) - #1 = OHS45x3 + SGPU45x3 - #2 = OHS65x3 + SGPU45x3 - #3 = OHS85x3 + SGPU45x3 - #4 = OHS95x3 + SGPU45x3 - #5 = OHS105x3 + SGPU45x3.

That was it again! Something is better than nothing. Let's see - my right shoulder is feeling funny, my left knee area is off, my left heel is still on the mend, my sternum is sore from I don't know what -other than that life is great! This week has been the lightest cardio week ever for me other than a complete rest week. Can't have it all all the time. Have a great day and weekend.
