Pinaepple's Daily Journal

Hi,

I'm sure many have seen my posts. I have been watching what I eat for the past 8 weeks and have not made any progress. My starting weight was 133 and I acutally gained 2 lbs. In the beginning (first 3 weeks) I was eating just under 1000 cals and got down to 129. I upped my cals-pretty much was eating just under 1100-1200 cals during the week and on the weekends eating more like 2500. I was exercising 5 days a week doing cardio and kick boxing. I had my measurements taken by the studio and I will have them taken again Oct. 6th. After Oct 6th (when the program is over) I will change my routine...until after Oct 6th I'm sticking with my current routing.

I am very discouraged right now because 8 weeks is alot to put into something and not get anywhere.

By my daily plate they say the recommended cals for me to loose 2 lbs per week at rest is 936 calories.

For today

The total cal intake for the day is 1100.

My estimated burned during exercise is 300 from kickboxing 300 from running, so a total burn is 600 cals intaking 1100.

Today is legs so we do about 300 squats/lunges ( with all the different variations).

My weight this morning was 135.

I appreciate any feedback during this process.

Current stats:
Age: 25
Height: 5'2
Weight: 135

Arm: 10
Waist: 29
Hips: 39
Thigh:24

My measurements on 8/3/07 were

Arm: 10.5
Waist: 29
Hips: 40
Thigh 25

I guess I made alittle progress but not much. I will get measured again on Oct 6th and updated before I start my new routine.

My goal is to be

Arm:10
Waist 26
Hips 36
Thigh 22

by June 1st.

Is this doable?

I don't care as much about weight but I'd like to be somewhere in the range of 116-123.

Welcome to the Online Journal Forum. We will support your fitness goals by giving you words of encouragement and cheer.

I believe your waist, hips and thigh measurement goals by June 1st are not realistic.

Ask yourself this: when was the last time they measured those inches? Take that amount of time, multiply it by 1.25, commit yourself to an exercise intensity that you may not have ever done, and maybe you will achieve it.

Don't starve yourself in that pursuit. Crank up the intensity. The fitness ladies will add more that you may be better able to relate.

But I will be cheering for you.

I agree with pierini : to lose three inches in each of these main areas is a lofty goal, to have this as your goal may mean you are setting yourself up for failure. Is it possible? who knows. It may be, it may not. The point is, your goals are not the right ones. You want to lose weight? I believe that weight loss should be a by-product of a lifestyle change. If you eat right and work out hard, you will feel good, you will have more energy, you will get stronger, you will be keeping your insides healthy and then, you will lose weight.

Do not think of it as a 'diet'. If you want to be in good shape, you need to work at it. Forever. But it is fun! i promise.

Questions :

1. do you have a food journal? (eg fitday.com) If so can we have the link? If not, please outline exactly what makes up your calories for the day, on a weekday AND on a weekend.

2. when you workout, do you try hard? intensity is key IMO when it comes to working out. If you are going to go to the gym and read a magazine while you trod along on an elliptical, why you are almost better off being at home. (not implying you do this, just saying)

3. When was the last time you weighed 120lbs

4. What were your eating habits like before you began to eat so little? I can't imagine that at 25 years old and weighing 135lbs you should need to be on such a restrictive diet to lose weight.

It is definitely possible to lose weight, and it shouldn't even be that hard. You are young and in good health, the problem is probably too low calories combined with poor food choices and lack of intensity in workouts.

I wish you the best of luck! I am not around much lately due to internet problems but i will be soon! Stick around and keep trying! and if you need inspiration check out sweetdreams journal, she is working hard and reaping the benefits!

P.S. I am the same height as you and almost the same age (24) !

Hi Pineapple...

I SOOOO understand you...I was going through this for a while. Don't eat so much on the weekends either... you can treat yourself but don't over do it. Do you actually right down what you eat, like EVERY thing you eat...cause sometimes you think you eat a certain amount but you forget to actually add/consider little bites you had in between.
I think you should write down everything you eat (that's if you don't) and give it a few weeks!

AWW minime I am touched!!! Thank you so much!!

Really it's all about consitancy, motivation, working hard and not getting frustrated --yes I know the last word comes around more frequently than it should.

Fact is people lose weight and fat in different ares and different times and at different lengths. You have been doing something for 8 weeks and you have no results so this tells me that something needs to be changed. I honestly think and you know I have said this before that you need to eat more because you are being so active.

Think about it this way, if you don't eat a lot and you are always working out, What do you think your body is doing when you eat some fat? It's going to say HORRAY!!! I'M GOING TO HOLD ONTO THIS FOR AS LONG AS I CAN BECAUSE WHO KNOWS WHEN I WILL GET SOME MORE.

Diet/nutrition/working out/ exercising/ lifestyle changes/habitual changes/ eating habits all put together is complicated and at one point I was also like TOO MUCH INFORMATION AT ONCE, but once you get it down stick to it!!!

Good luck girl!!!

I guess when I switch up my routine Oct 9th I will not let myself have a cheat day and eat alittle more and give it another 8 weeks and see if that helps??

I think it most definitaly will

When I first started I did the same thing you did (seems like we have a lot in common with this whole tging- I feel as if I know you so well haha)

anyways..I did the same thing with eating, thinking that if one day I ate 1000 calories and the next I ate 2000 that it would all even out in the end, but I was so wrong. It works much better if you eat good all the time and then maybe if you see a cookie eat 1.4 of it dont wait until the weekend to eat 7 cookies, 5 slices of pizza, 1 tub of ice cream, ect.

P.S. I bet at that next weight in your BF decreased! Wanna bet $1.00 ? haha

Sure I'll send it up to you I hope it does work. I just like food and did want something to look forward to at the end of the week for the hard work during the week.

I'll try upping my cals on a daily basis and this way I hope I wont feel the need to over eat on the weekends.
