Question

Protein Bulk

With all that goes into a true bulking diet what is it that you guys buy "in bulk" to equal up the protein amount? Of course im on protein shakes but i was told too many of those in a day arent good (like over 3 shakes) i currently run through my fair share of chicken breast and tuna but i cant stand the taste of cottage cheese, which i can currently hear the gasp from everyone in the forum because it seems to be a favorite.
Bottom line when money is tight, what do you reach for "in bulk"?

tuna is always a plus, costco practically gives it away, 16 cans for 5.75

Use 1/3 or 1/2 cup of it in a protein shake and it adds a nice thick shake consistency to it. Doesn't even taste like cottage cheese, just thickens up the shake a bit.

For another protein source... if you like em, Sardines are a great late nite snack. High protein, good Omega 3 fats, and easy on the wallet.

Blend it (cottage cheese) really well and, like Wolfnatas says, you'll get a wonderfully creamy texture & taste.

Intelligent "bulking" is a matter of balancing your macronutrients and caloric volume to be just slightly above your maintenance level. Since we don't grow muscle extremely fast, make sure that you only ingest enough additional nutrition to support the combination of 1) any added activity, and 2) new lean tissue generation. If, for example, you plan on increasing your muscle mass by 12-lbs over the course of this next year, then only eat enough additional food (above your maintenance meal plan) to support the 1-lb per month increase (1/30-lb per day ... or only about ½ oz).

Eating massive amounts of food over and above your maintenance level will simply result in added fat stores.

If you are using anabolic steroids, then muscle growth can happen faster (provided you do more work and supply an increased flow of quality fuel) since recovery is enhanced, allowing for more work within shorter time frames. If you're not using steroids (and/or not doing the requisite amount of work) then the same high volume of food will only get in the way of your progress.

I go for vanilla—it works with everything. If I want a chocolate shake, I can add the appropriate flavoring.
