Thanks guys, and good luck at boot camp Geoff. :

Friday April 13th
(Accessory Work/Lazy Day)

DB Curls
45's x 10
50's x 5

DB Flyes
50's x 10
50's x 10
50's x 10

Tricep Pushdowns
185 x 10
185 x 10

Leg Extensions
200 x 10
215 x 10

DB Shrugs
85's x 12
100's x 12

Front raises, side raises, calf raises, etc.

I gave my legs a beating this week between olympic lifts, high rep squats, and running. I'm surprised at how they've held up. I'm not even too sore right now.

Oh and another side note, I can successfully close the #1 with both hands. Working on getting some reps out with that now.

Hi Eric,

This is the first time I've noticed that you are 19 lbs. down in BW since January. I know you wanted to head in that direction so congrats on the progress you have made. How does the lighter weight feel to you?

Where do you eventually want to peak out at?

Keep moving forward and keep the pedal to the metal!

Over the fall I had bulked up and hovered around 200 pounds for a few months. It was on purpose, but I had put on a little more fat than I would have liked. So I've just been preparing for summer since the year started.

I think to get to the bodyfat levels that I want to be at, I'll have to be about 175. It does feel good to weigh less right now. Certainly makes bodyweight exercises and cardio a lot easier.

And trust me the pedal is floored. I feel like a man possessed.

Saturday April 14th

Morning Exercise Bike
Time: 15:00
Distance: 6.35 miles (PR)

A nice way to wake myself up for the day. Set a new PR for distance traveled in 15 minutes.

Pierini, I bet you can't wait to get through tomorrow and finally have a chance to relax for a bit. I'm pretty envious of your upcoming trip to Italy. I hope to do some traveling after college.

Another side note, I just got a landscaping/edging job for the summer. I'll be the one lifting concrete bags and mixing it to perfection. It sounds like very hard labor, but I'm ready for it. I may have to tone down my workouts at that point though. If anyone else has experience with this, your input would be appreciated.

Hi Eric,

I have to muscle it out until Tuesday April 17th as that is this year's April 15th. You'll get your day to travel in due time. Until then, rest assured that I will eat an extra gelato for you while I am there.

Hey man nice job on the PRs over the past few days : it's not that I hate running, I actually love it, but I have lost a LOT of ability over the past few years so I get mad at myself for that lol.

Thanks a lot guys.

Sunday April 15th

Exercise Bike
Time: 15:00
Distance: 6.42 miles (PR)

Whew, this felt like a 15 minute long sprint. Average speed was 25.6 mph.

I can't wait for the weather to clear up so I can get out on a track. This bike is getting boring!

I hear ya...I want to get a timed mile on our outdoor track soon. I hate the indoor track lol it's too short. You gonna do distance running when it warms up?

Yea I'm gonna do all kinds of running once the weather clears. It's snowing again today though!

Monday April 16th

Single Arm DB Snatches
65 x 5 (each arm)
70 x 4 (each arm) (PR)
Only a PR by one rep, but it's better than nothing.

Overhead Squats
45 x 10
65 x 10
Humbling. I can probably do more weight next time though.

Push Press
95 x 6
115 x 4
125 x 2

Push Press Lockouts
125 x 1, hold 10 seconds
135 x 1, hold 10 seconds
135 x 1, hold 30 seconds
145 x 1, hold 20 seconds
These were done with a rack at the top half of the movement. Held them at the top to get used to more weight overhead.

Cross-fit style Finisher
4 Rounds for time of:
40lb Single Arm DB Snatches x 5 (each arm)
65lb Hang Clean x 10
Time: 5:31

Goal of today's workout was to work on Overhead Strength and Stability. I'd say mission accomplished.

well well, what's going on in here eric?

OHS? Crossfit style workouts? Are you feeling ok?

Fantastic work. You really put the pedal to the metal today. OHS are very tough, once you get the balance part down you will be adding weight on pretty quick with your strength. I like your push press lock outs too, I've never held the lockout for an exteneded period of time like you did. and that CF finisher...you must be FRIED. Great work. How drenched were you after the single arm snatch/hang cleans combo?

Haha I'm feeling great. I believe I'm still sweating from that finisher and I might as well throw away the shirt I was wearing.

I figured the lockout and holds would be a good way to build confidence as I progress with clean and presses. Also good for core stability.

I've never been good at overhead stuff, so I'm just mixing things up a bit. But I have a feeling it'll be a struggle to reach overhead for anything tomorrow.

Just a side note- April 23rd will be the two year anniversary of this journal. Seems pretty crazy. I think I will use that occasion to start a new journal as a lot of my goals have changed. I'm not only concered with strength, but overall fitness. My 3-mile time is now just as important to me as my deadlift. Bodybuilding isn't a huge concern, I just want to stay relatively lean through my training. So...

Currently taking suggestions for new journal names:

How about "Eric's Superfit Journey".

I like to use the term superfitness to describe what I strive for. Not just fit, but SUPERFIT! It might be a play on words for most, but I definitely know the difference.

That's great Eric, congrats on that PR.

Who knows what you are capable of once you get some demanding speed workouts under your belt, perhaps sub 20 minutes.

I'll check back in 3 weeks to see where you are at after I return from my vacation.

Keep the pedal to the metal!
