Saturday April 28th
Track Work
800m - 3:01
800m - 3:12
400m - 1:21
400m - 1:22
This was done in 40 degree rainy weather. I stuck it out like the hardcore discussfitnesser that I am, haha. Cut the workout a little short though because I was drenched in a combination of sweat and rain, and that wasn't a great feeling. I'd like to get those 800m times to around 2:40 and the 400m times at least under 1:15. But it's a start.

Sunday April 29th
Pretty relaxing day. Went for a walk in the park with my girlfriend. We probably covered a good 3-4 miles. I came across a little obstacle course with a pull-up bar, so I couldn't help myself.
Chin-ups
Bw x 15
Bw x 16 ( PR)
I've actually never done over 12, so this was pretty big. Must have been that juicy steak I had for dinner, mmmmmmm.

Monday April 30th
Squats
225 x 6
235 x 6
235 x 3
These felt good until set 3, ankle started bothering me in the hole. Cut it short.
Leg Press
500 x 6
Weight was easy, too much pressure on the ankle though.
SLDL
275 x 6
295 x 5 ( PR)
These have been improving nicely. 295 wasn't too bad.
Skipped calf raises and instead worked on my ankle a little bit. It's frustrating how slow the recovery has been. It's been about 10 weeks now and I'm still nowhere near ready to play a sport.

Showing out for the girlfriend....nothing like a little alpha male testosterone boost to get you through your PR.
Good stuff

Sometimes it can take a long time unfortunately. Just keep working around it and it'll get there.

Ty, I think you may be right. I should have her watch me workout all the time! Maybe when I get a home gym together.
Greg, I'm starting to realize how long it takes to recover. This was my first serious injury since I've been weight training, so it just gets annoying when I can't do the things that I normally would.
Nadia, you may be right. Once I get down to a weight that I'm happy with (very soon), I'll probably completely switch to crossfit training for awhile. I have a landscaping job for the summer, so I think those kind of workouts will be more effective during that time. I'll already be doing a lot of heavy lifting at work, so I doubt I'd be able to maintain a heavy lifting cycle.
I'm looking into crossfit facilities in my area too. I may have to start my own once I get out of school. Who knows!
I'm also due to try "Linda" soon. I promised myself that once I got to 180, I would try to finish it as prescribed. I was 180.5 this morning, so the time is near. It will be 270 deadlift, 180 bench, 135 clean. I think the cleans will be the most trouble for me, but we'll see.

That's awesome Eric! Whre do you live? You should totally start a CF...I'd like to do that someday too. Are you studying fitness in college?
Best of Luck with Linda. She will kick your ass, but in the best possible way.

I live in Rochester, New York. It looks like someone is just starting a facility in this area, but its still in the developing stages.
My major is exercise physiology, and I'm planning on taking the NSCA personal training certification this summer. Once I graduate (2009) I'd like to get certified as a strength and conditioning specialist as well.
I forgot what you said before about Linda. Is it all sets of deadlifts (10,9,8,etc) followed by all sets of bench, and all sets of cleans?

Good move with your education. I don't think I looked far back enough in your journal to recollect your injury. From the way your workout is, I seriously hope it wasn't anything with hips or back...
Speedy recovery

oooh Rochester, NY! Ever heard of Gregory Paul...or the AutumnDivers? They play around Rochester a lot.
What a great major. I wish I relised earlier what I wanted to do, I would have gone the route you are going. NSCA is great and how awesome would it be to become a strength and conditioning specialist!
For linda you do 10 reps of deadlift, 10 reps of bench 10 reps of clean, then 9 reps of dead, 9 reps of bench, 9 reps of clean, 8 reps of dead, 8 reps of bech, 8 reps of clean so on and so forth. If you have access to 3 bars set them all up and storm through, you don't want to waste engergy changing the weight on the bars between exercises.

Haven't heard of those bands, but then again I don't get out much haha. I did reply to your PM though.
Tuesday's workout was pretty basic. Arms and abs, didn't have a lot of time because I'm studying for finals. Did it all in about 15 minutes, numbers not really important.
Wednesday May 2nd
Push Press
115 x 5
115 x 6
120 x 4
I've been struggling with 115 for a few weeks, finally got em today. Fixed my form after watching some instructional videos, got a much better drive from my legs today.
DB Shoulder Press
60's x 6
60's x 6
Lateral Raises
35's x 8
35's x 8
BB Shrugs
295 x 6
345 x 6
Upright Rows
95 x 6
95 x 6

Did about 10 hours of landscaping on friday, so I moved the chest workout to Saturday. It's gonna be hard work this summer, so it'll be interesting to see how it affects my training.
Saturday May 5th
BB Bench
185 x 6
185 x 6
195 x 6
Pretty happy to get all the reps on my third set.
DB Incline Bench
75's x 6
75's x 6
May be ready to increase on these.
Chest Press Machine
185 x 6
Fly Machine
110 x 6
Last two exercises were a substitute for dips. Apparently some guys were having a tea party over at the dip station, and I didn't feel like waiting.
