I took Monday and Tuesday off because I was just way too busy with finals. But now I'm done with the semester and started working fulltime today. Got in about 10 hours of landscaping today, hard work, so I was surprised with how well I did in the gym.
Wednesday May 9th
Deadlift
365 x 1 ( PR)
When I previously went for 365, I barely missed it. Got it today without too much trouble. I feel like I had at least 375 in me today.
Lat Pulldowns
220 x 6
225 x 6
230 x 6
Last weeks best was 220x6, nice improvement here.
Chin-ups
+25 x 6
+25 x 6
+25 x 4
My gym finally got a weight belt. Yahooooo! I was so excited.
That's about it. I was really surprised by the whole workout, because I worked my tail off all day today.

Congrats on that PR Eric.
Maybe the weight of finals being over gave you a surge of energy and strength. Or the freedom of being outdoors doing manual labor rather than stuck in a library with your face buried in a textbook.
Enjoy your youth!

Nice DL PR... you should be at 405 relatively soon.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think I'm gonna like the job this summer, but it is very taxing. I might have to switch to 2 or 3 days a week for lifting, because I'm extremely sore today. But maybe I just need to get used to it, who knows.
Thursday May 10th
Cardio
Exercise Bike
Time: 15:00
Distance: 6.55 miles (PR)
I'll be switching back to running for next week, exercise bike was a nice change of pace the last few times.

Eric, with your hard manual labor summer job, you may find shorter distance running to be more compatible with that. Stuff like (warm-up of course) a 1-mile timed trial, 3 rounds of 800 meters best effort, walking a lap for recovery, and 8 rounds of 30 second sprints (or better yet hill sprints) with 120 seconds of walking recovey. Twice a week of that kind of running should keep you in tip-top shape.

That's exactly what I was planning on doing. I was actually gonna do some timed 800's tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
I made my own workout today when I was working the wheelbarrow. I'd try and see how fast I could go from the truck to the garden with the 400lb load. We got that house done pretty fast haha.
But anyways, I'm off to the gym now for my real workout...

Friday May 11th
Incline Bench
155 x 6
165 x 6
165 x 6
Haven't done incline in awhile, this wasn't too bad.
Dips
+25 x 6
+35 x 6
+45 x 6
+55 x 6
+70 x 6 (PR)
Experimented with the weight belt. I wasn't really sure what I could do. The most I've done before was +30, so this was great. The +70 set was definitely my limit though.
Happy with today.

Track Work
800m - 2:55
800m - 3:05
800m - 3:06
Felt pretty tired after the first one, took about 5 minutes in between each. Previous times were 3:01 and 3:12 two weeks ago, so this wasn't too bad.

You are the better man today Eric as I did the same workout. I felt like a slug today. We both took about the same rest time. I'll do better next time, I guarantee it, and I'm sure you will too.

Yea neither of us were very spectactular Pierini. Same thing this Saturday? We can probably push each other with the 800's, because I think we're at similar levels for that distance.
I decided to make another stop at the track today. I was on the way home from Mother's Day dinner, had shorts and shoes in the car, so I had to do it. I guess there's a reason I keep an extra set of clothes in the car.
Sunday May 13th
Track Work
400m - 1:10.92 (PR)
400m - 1:17.31
200m - 30.94
200m - 31.73
Nice and short, but the first 400 was blazing. My previous best was 1:21. I was feeling good today, even though my legs were somewhat tired from yesterdays workout.
And another note, I'm down to about 176-177 now. Even when I'm fully hydrated, I'm under 180. So if work isn't too taxing this week, I'll be trying Linda.

You've got a date for next Saturday Eric and I agree we should both be able to do better. I found one of my old journals and noted that on 12/2/2006 at a BW of 184 lbs. I did 3 rounds as follows: #1 = 2:54 - #2 = 3:05 - #3 = 3:08. Next Saturday I'd like to get 2:55 on the first round and the next 2 under 3:00.
I'm not buying any performance insurance but doing these after a Saturday morning karate workout is a bit tougher.
Good time on the 400 meter round. I did a 1:08 in the summertime. I couldn't do that right now.
We are at the same BW right now except I'm old enough to be your Dad.
