Grrr... wtf? I weighed myself and I'm 158lbs. I should be 155lbs. It doesn't make any sense. I've been recording what I've been eating, and I'm ususally 200-300 calories above or below my target caloric intake. I increased my cardio too. I'm doing 20 minutes of HIIT (15 intervals) on Sunday, Teusday, and Thursday, and lifting AND climbing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

I have been eating more carbs to balance out my diet and for the past 4 days, I've been drinking more than a gallon of water. Perhaps all of the water is being stored in the carbs? No? I have no idea. I weigh myself in the morning... I should be completely empty. Maybe I'm just eating too many carbs later in the day. Maybe I need to eat them only during my Pre- and Post- workout meals. BAH.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Aight... I'm back on track... I think? :) No, I am. It's just really weird when I know I'm feeling light weight, yet the scale doesn't go down that much. See, the problem is I'm building muscle and losing body fat at the same time. I know this is a good thing, but it can be really frustrating when you want to see the scale GO DOWN! I weighed myself today and I'm 156lbs... and I figure at least 2 to 3 lbs of that has got to be water weight. I've been eating carbs and drinking at least a gallon of water a day, so I'm probably retaining a fair amount of water.

When I'm working out, my veins on the bottom of my forearms stick out just a little bit, which tells me I'm losing over all body fat. Also, the fat around my obliques is waning, just a little bit, but you can tell. A slight dip is present between my bicep and tricep in my inner arm, another good sign. And again, when I pull down my fat from my gut, and flex, you can see (and feel them moving too), the top two abs sticking out just a little bit which is nice. I figure all of these are good indicators that I'm losing body fat.

So, I feel like I'm on the right path. I'm not really focused (or should I say, obsessed) on it as much I was. I'm just working out, eating less, climbing, having fun, and getting into shape. I don't care when I get to my goals, because I'll get to them eventually if I keep this up.

Woohoo! I got my body fat caliper today, and I finally know how much fat I have on my body. I used this popular online calculator: http://www.rustyiron.net/bodyfat.htm first. I did it twice and got 14.2% the first time and 15% the second time. I also did this equation, Men: Fat % = 1.378 M - 0.0174 Msquared + 0.213 Age - 5.84, found on Dr. Hussman's Fitness website (http://www.hussman.org/fitness/) Btw, M = the suprailiac skinfold body point, if you want to try it out. He says it's quite accurate. I'd say so since I got a 14.5 body fat percentage, which is on target with the other calculator. I know these aren't super accurate, but it just gives me an idea of where I am.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm at 155 lbs. So, with 15% body fat, I've got 132 lbs of lean body mass (everything but fat.) Now, I'd like to be at 5% body fat, so I've got to lose another 10%. Jesus... I can't believe this, but at the start of 2003, I had 35% body fat. I took a lot of that off and put on a fair amount of muscle. But, anyway, I need to lose another 15 lbs, or 10%, of body fat. I think this is doable within the next 2 months. My diet has been really good lately. Eating healthy carbs before and I after I workout and keeping a healthy, yet, effective calorie deficit.

So, in conclusion, I'm ****ing stoked. :) I have to thank you guys. If my bud didn't link me here, I'd still be lost. I'd still be stuck on the Atkins diet. I'd still be eating too much. I wouldn't be reaching my goals, and therefore, I'd still be struggling. Thanks for helping out.
