Colin - thanks for dropping in. I actually had intended to do 10-20-30-20-10, but bagged that idea...

I usually work out at 5 am, but this is Spring Break, so I was able to do it in the middle of the afternoon. I also work out in the garage, which is unattached to the house, so noise in the morning is no problem - at least this time of the year. My mom lives in an apartment over the top of the garage, and she's in Mexico all winter long - so that has been nice. Once she comes home, I'll have to quiet down a little. That's o.k. though, because I can mostly move outdoors for the summer.

3/20/09:

overhead squat
singles - 45, 65, 85, 95, 105, 115, 125 PR

front squat
singles - 125, 135, 155, 175, 185, 205, 225, 245 PR

back squat
singles - 245, 265, 275, 295, 315 fail (325 would have been PR)
175x20 (60% of best attempt)

front squat
145x15, (60% of PR) racked bar just long enough to regrip it (my left wrist was killing me), 5 more.
This is kind of a PR, my previous best was 145x15.

overhead squat
75x10 (60% of PR), racked to my shoulders and rested (but didn't put it down), 5 more, back to the shoulders, 5 more.
Previous high-rep OHS PR was 75x20.

Thanks, man!

3/22/08:

For time:
carry 21 chunks of firewood (roughly 18" diameter, 18-24" inches length, I'd guess 50 to 70 lbs each) approximately 75 feet uphill

Yes - that's where the woodshed is.

well mate if online encouragement from a stranger half way round the world helps; I love reading your journal and getting ideas/inspiration (and obviousy keeping up with where you're at training wise).

I'm impressed and inspired by you lone Crossfitters (particularly as I picture you, peeling your hands off frozen bars and trudging through knee deep snow to get to your Kettlestack). Keep up the good work - if only so you can post it in your journal for me to look at and think 'that's a great idea for a WOD'.

Funny how that motivation comes and goes. Sometimes I feel like I am sick of working out, doing crossfit, but then a few days later (a PR usually helps) and I am back on track.

Hope you feel better soon tim!

Thank you both. Minime, it's mainly just because it's so damn early in the morning. We just went through daylight savings time, so I'm actually getting up a full hour earlier than I had been and I haven't adjusted fully yet. Plus I just got done with Spring Break, which gave me the option of working out later in the day - now I have to get up early early and it sucks. Made it today, though...

3/27/08:

Yogi and Boo Boo
2-4-6-8-10 for time:
-95 lb barbell Bear Complex...
power clean / front squat / push press / back squat / push press
-35 lb kettlestack Captain Bluebear...
clean / squat / push press / overhead squat / snatch

Finished in 28:12.
