That's pretty hardcore! It must feel great after you're done (in an I'm gonna fall on the floor and die kinda way)

Hi Tim the workouts are great as usual. But I am really jealous of being able to go cross country skiing at Glacier National Park. That must have been a great day with lots of mental pictures. We have only had 1 skiing snowfall and it was only good until around 10am until it started to melt.

I always tell my wife when we are outdoors doing something like skiing, biking or hiking that it doesn't get any better than this. I might have to change that to with the exception of doing this in Glacier National Park.

great job on Cindy Tim! That is a very nice improvement. Do you do kipping pullups or strict? I can't remember.

Do you find pull ups or push ups to be the limiting factor in your cindy?

JDR3 - Thank you.

Liftgirl - you captured the feeling exactly.

Bob - it was pretty awesome. I'm very lucky to live about 45 miles away from the park.

Minime - I kip, but my toes touch down in between each rep, so it's not "pure" kipping, I have a little tiny hop for each rep. If I stand still and go up on my tiptoes just a little, that's enough for me to reach the bar. And the pushups are the limiting factor for me.

1/11/08:
"Diane"
21-15-9 reps for time of...
-225 lb deadlift
-HSPU (feet anchored at chest height)

Last time I did this one was waaaay back on 9/11/06, and I got 12:33. This morning I did it in 9:27.

nice work on Diane tim, that is a good time improvement. Can you do even a single HSPU? I have always done them with feet chest high on a box or smith bar, but I found it was too easy. However I cannot do even one HSPU, my range of motion is about an inch!

I am just wondering how big a gap you find between the feet up kind and the feet against the wall kind, because for me the gap seems huge.

No, I can't do one. I go down and never come back up. And I agree, that gap is huge. I have tried using my Iron Woody bands for assistance so I have to deal with the balance issue but don't have to move all the weight, and that's harder than against the wall. It's ridiculously hard to get in that position, though.

Here's 1/12/08:

-about 1 hour 45 minutes shovelling wet snow

deadlift singles - 135, 185, 225, 255, 285, 315, 335, 345, 365, 385, 405, 415 PR

I got a couple 25 lb rubber plates in the mail yesterday and wanted to play with them, so did a little snatch practice too:

snatch 45, 45, 65, 65, 85, 85, 95, 95 miss, 95 miss, powersnatch / ohs 95, snatch 95 miss, 95 hit

It seems that right at that 95 lb level I always miss it until I get mad enough to get enough momentum and elevation on the bar, then I hit the lift.

Colin, thanks. Here's one for you:

1/15/08:
Pullup - burpee - ring dip (toes down)
10-5-1
9-5-2
8-5-3
7-5-4
6-5-5
5-5-6
4-6-7
3-5-8
2-5-9
1-5-10

Last time I did this workout was 4/13/07, I only got to the 5-5-6 round, and that took me 16:45. This morning I finished the whole thing in 20:18 (I was at 5-5-6 at 11 minutes or so).

quite frankly !! that workout looks outstanding!! you really like to put the mental pressure on too eh? no descending reps to the finish line for Tim - just keep piling them on there until the mind caves in .

Love it.

Good job on smashing your last effort on this beast too!!

1/16/08:

bench press singles - 135, 155, 165
170x10, 170x9 (broken @8), 170x8 (broken @ 5), 170x7 (broken @ 3), this then deteriorated into a bunch of singles so I lowered the weight for the rest of the workout:

155x6, 155x5, 155x4, 155x3, 155x2, 155x1

I think that the next time I try this rep scheme I'll just go with the 155...I want to find a weight I can make it all the way through on unbroken sets and build from there. My weak pressing strength is so frustrating to me!

Hey Tim
That workout sure looks interesting (on 1/5/08). Maybe I'll give that a shot. I really need to work on my pullups.

I know how you feel about the bench. I'm at the same place as you are. I've decided to reset myself back to a weight I'm comfortable with and then gradually build up. Hopefully when I hit my limiting weight this time I'll blast through it. Keep up the good work!
