bench press
157.5x10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Made them all pretty easily with unbroken sets. Just a smidgin heavier next time.

Good question, it's been quite a long time. I'll have to check my old journal... (off he goes to check)...165 lbs on 4/25/07. They were broken sets then, by the way.

Anyway, here's 2/6/08:

Tabata Deathwish
8 Tabata intervals each of...
-hang power clean, 65 lbs
-back squat 65 lbs
-push press 65 lbs
-burpees
-jump rope (divide by 8 for score)

Scored as total reps (after dividing the jump rope, that is). This is one of the first WODs I ever came up with, and I haven't done it since 3/29/06. That day I scored 206, today I got 259.

2/9/08:

AMRAP, 20 minutes, 45 lb kettlebell...
-complex 1: swing / snatch / clean / thruster
rh, then lh
-complex 2: turkish get-up / windmill / overhead squat
rh, then lh

I finished 9 rounds in exactly 20:00. I thought that last round was going to hang over 20 seconds or so, but managed to kick in a little overdrive and come in under the wire.

-rh kb clean / thruster, 1 minute
-tire flip / jump through, 1 minute (flip it, jump to the inside, out the other side)
-lh kb clean / thruster, 1 minute
-rest 3 minutes between rounds
Scored as total reps.

Round 1 - 10+7+8=25
Round 2 - 11+8+9=28
Round 3 - 11+7+8=26
Round 4 - 11+7+7=25
Round 5 - 10+7+9=26
Total reps...........130

where did you get a tire from? (or is that some equipment i'm unaware of). Were you doing this outside?

j2bryson, thanks for dropping in.

A couple years ago my wife and I bought my mom's house. My dad had passed away a few years before. When he was working, he ran a backhoe. This tire was just lying around someplace on the land, so I decided to use it for my workouts. It's really easy to get a tire, though, just go to Les Schwab or some other tire place and drive around the back - you will see a huge pile of tires back there awaiting disposal, and some will be mondo big ones (mine's not huge, I would estimate maybe 200-some-odd pounds). The business has to pay to dispose of them, so they will probably be thrilled when you say you want to take one off their hands. If they try to charge you for it, say "no thanks" and find another tire place, because you actually are doing them a favor.

So, no, that's not some equipment you're unaware of. It's a tire.

I work out in my garage. It's not a ton of space, but plenty to flip the tire, jump through, and flip it back the other way. I can actually manage 4 or 5 flips before I absolutely have to turn around.

Is it easy to flip a 200# tire? That sounds pretty heavy and cumbersome. Maybe I could use a bicycle tire, lol.

It's not that bad; I'm not pressing it overhead, after all. It stays on the ground. It's enough to make it a challenge in a metcon circuit, but not enough to be a maximal-strength exercise.
