2/15/08:

I have been sick; got the flu, starting Sunday. Laid me flat on my back for 3 days, it was awful...103 temperature, chills, aches, painful cough where you hack up solid little chunks of stuff (that's nasty, I know, sorry for the TMI), intense nasal congestion, dizzyness, blurred vision...tons of fun. Today I'm back to about 90% well, though, so I was able to work out this morning. I lost about 7 or 8 pounds since Sunday, and am back around 225, so I appreciate the sickness! Whatever works...

Anyway:
bench press
160x10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

All unbroken sets, mission accomplished.

Good job, Tim! Don't push too hard and set your recovery back. Take it easy and work back up to where you were gradually. Glad you're feeling better. The flu sucks!

Thanks, LiftGirl. I'm actually feeling o.k. now, but thanks for the thoughts, anyway.

2/16/08:

Melissa (I took this idea from a crossfitter named Melissa Byers - she posted the workout on the CF board and it sounded tough so I did it)
45 lb kettlebell; 5 reps each arm for every round; for time:
-clean
-clean / swing
-clean / swing / snatch
-clean / swing / snatch / squat
-clean / swing / snatch / squat / press
-clean / swing / snatch / squat
-clean / swing / snatch
-clean / swing
-clean

Finished in 19:12. Might have done better if my lungs were up to full capacity, but it would have been totally hard regardless.

The lack of mental toughness continues. Today I copped out after 1 round:

Renaissance (Eugene Allen)
3 rounds for time (1 round)
-25 double unders
-10 squat clean thruster slam (20 lb ball)
-25 box jumps (20")
-10 squat clean thruster (2 20 lb dumbells)
-25 2-hand swings (45 lb kettlebell)
-10 hang squat clean thruster (70 lb barbell)

Finished 1 round in 9:40 and gave up.

how are you feeling now tim? completely over your flu bout? how funny that you would lose weight while NOT working out!

um how on earth could one do three rounds of that workout, that sounds horrible! good job doing one!

The flu can sometimes leave you fatigued for weeks after you think you're better. Are you sure you are experiencing lack of motivation rather than just after-effects of the flu? Health experts say it's bad this year.
