ME Squat

Box Squat

225x3
245x3
265x3
275x1
285x1

I think my parallel squat should be over 300 by now...

Low Box Front Squat

135
2x10

These start to kill when you go loooooooow.

Various other things

Chin-ups, curls, agility ladders...

Notes

Didn't get too much accomplished besides my ME Squat... oh well, I'll be going one of these mornings to make up for my slacking.

DE Bench

This is the 2nd time I've written out the workout, I accidentally hit F5 and that refreshed the page and erased all my info.

Speed Bench

115
10x3

Less weight for more speed and better form.

Close-Grip Bench

135
2x7

Good triceps exercise as always.

Weighted Dips

+15lbs
2x7

Great compound exercise that tears up the tri's. Probably can use more weight next time around.

Hyperextensions

130
2x7

Same ol', same ol'.

Notes
Workout took about 45 minutes. Pretty happy about that. My joints really hurt in my elbow from speed bench. Ah well, good workout overall. I'm kinda nervous to finish Westside because I have this sneaking suspicion that my bench won't be any higher. Squat probably will though...

Hey Tom,

Program looks like its working well for you. When are you gonna test your maxes? I assume you're doing an 8 week cycle? Have you gained any mass while doing westside? Keep it up man!

Well guys, I believe I'm in week 7 so in one week my cycle will be over and I'll test my max the next week (wk. 9). As far as mass gains go, I stopped using creatine and I lost a little weight from it so it was hard to judge what mass gains I got from it. I'll be starting creatine back up again so I'll be able to judge how much mass I've gained by comparison. I'm guessing it should be a nice amount due to the hypertrophy sets that really kick my ass.

ME Bench

12" Rack Press

185x3
205x3
215x3 (PR)
225x3 (PR)
235x1
245x1 (PR)
255x1 (PR)

What the fuhh...? I hit 4 new PR's (and broke 2 of them right away )... either last week I was worn out or this week I'm just way stronger. I'm hoping for the latter of the two... I'm really happy about this. Can't wait to max out for bench... should be interesting...

Skull Crushers

65lbs
6x7

Needed some good high volume sets... my triceps are sore from these, great workout.

Chest Flyes

35# DB's
2x7

Wanted to get a little shape back to my chest since I have really directly worked it in a while... did the trick.

Hammer Curls

50# DB's
3x5 (5 reps per arm)

I never get really tired from hammer curls. I'm thinkin next time around I'm gonna do a 6x10 or something along those lines with some lighter weight and see how that works out.

Weighted Decline Sit-Ups

45# Plate
3x10

These really kill my lower abs for some reason while the others aren't too fatigued. Hmmmmmm...

Notes

Okay, I have a little fat that's starting to bother me over my pant line. Might have to throw some cardio in.

As a side note, anyone heard the Montgomery Gentry song that I think is called "You do your thing I'll do mine"?... I love that song. It talks about people taking responsibility for themselves. Stuff along the line of if I fail it's not the government's fault, it's mine. The video of it has a guy with a deer strapped on his hood of his SUV (which he's not ashamed to have b/c he wants to protect his kids and does care about gas mileage). It's patriotic, conservative, anti-drugs, against the Hollywood hype, gotta love it.

Another side note, went to a party last night. Had a muscle shirt on, a cowboy hat, and sunglasses. Those hypertrophy sets made my tri's look nice 'n pretty so I had a pretty studly look going on. Gotta love fitness .

And lastly, I think I'm gonna start goin on creatine (again) one of these days so we'll see how that affects the ol' workouts.

No need for cardio, just do more sled dragging, carry stuff around, farmers walks, stuff like that.

I'm thinking I've forgotten to write down a workout or two... I do recall doing a DE Bench along with incline bench press (DB's) and possibly something else on another day.

I just moved in to college and I haven't been able to lift for well over a week. Kinda pisses me off due to the fact that I was getting really close to testing my maxes and now I have to make up for lost time (which can't really be done). I'm looking into the university weightlifting program so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully this journal will go on...
