Hi Arbit and Goose. It's nice to see some familiar faces still around.

Arbit you're so sweet to remember. I am doing well. Extremely busy, but it's all good.

Hi Kitara,

I joined after your heyday, but I have read a lot of your posts. I agree, about this one - very insightful. Thank you.

I have a question for you. Would it interest you if we had a forum for parents and fitness? Obviously it would depend on the discussions and those contributing, but would someone like you take the time to build it up or would you just prefer an already established one?

I'm not really sure I understand the question. Like parents that are into fitness? Or parenting finessminded kids? lol I'm sorry, I can't figure it out.

As far as building up interest to get it running is sometimes difficult. Newbies see an inactive forum so they don't contribute because they don't have anything emotionally invested in it and the older members just run out of things to post about lol.

ETA: I just relized my join date is Nov 2002!! Has it really been almost 5 years?!?

A discussion for fitness amongst people who are parents. The dicussion topics could be many. I have participated in these on other female oriented forums.

Here is an example of the types of things which could get brought up for discussion:

- how can I find the time to workout and eat properly when I have to make my kids needs a priority?

- I want to eat better to lose weight and support my fitness goals but my family likes to eat junk food and sodas and my kids want to be like other families and go to Mcdonalds all the time. What can I do ?

- My interest in staying fit is dying because all the time I spend at the gym is keeping me away from my new baby and wife. After work and sleep I have no time and feel that I have to choose between my fitness goals and my family. How do other Dad's manage?

etc.

Others points to consider within the same boundaries:
  • How can we adults encourage our children (or grandchildren) to realize/experience the many benefits of being fit?
  • How can we as parents create meals that are both healthy and interesting for our families (as opposed to processing our own meal plans separate from the rest of the family)?
  • How can we effectively deal with the way that video games and television seem to encourage a stagnant lifestyle?
  • What do we wish we'd known (or explicitly been taught by our parents) about our bodies' needs when we were young? What would have worked for us, as kids?

Ahhhh OK that makes sense and those are great questions. It's hard sometimes when you've got to balance family and "working out". Sometimes it's easy to blend the two, but others have more difficulty especially with babies.

A quick insertion here; the reason why I said that you can only talk about fitness for so long is because of the first post Kitara said. K, I'm done now.

Personally the only thing I don't like about this forum is there is not enough testosterone.

But what do I know... I'm a 19 year old powerlifter.

^^^^

Looking at the UFC 70 thread, I'd concur...

I had more to say, but I doubt it would make any difference... Kitara is on point...

I think that DiscussFitness is alive and well, just like its members, poking along with some days being better than others.

It's not the biggest and the best, but then neither are most of us. Just an "average Joe" co-existing in a big world over-populated by "average Joe's".

All you young buffs wanting some more testosterone here, squirt this website with yours. Post up and add your two cents to make this a better website.

Yes, she is gorgeous. Hell, she looks a great deal like my daughter.

Concerning Khaine's comment:

You'd "hit it"?
Your motto must be, "I will show no respect".
Personally, I find your comment to be offensive and out of place.

Well, that's okay then... Frankly, I find your opinion on the matter completely irrelevant... That said, I'm sure I'd be offended too if I was a father...

I still would tho... I'll just sugarcoat it next time...

EDIT: It's gone now, although not by my hand... So I'll leave this post intact...
